The aviation authority, EASA,  requires all new pilots and pilots who wish to convert their commercial (CPL/MPL) licence, to complete a certain number of certified ground school hours at a flight school. This will allow a pilots to write their Airline (ATPL) examinations. This can be done via Distance Learning.


ATPL pilots converting their licence are exempt from this rule.
